ChickenKit.com is a slick product indeed. There are over 100 coop plans, and a whole pile of bonus ebooks on chicken care, recipes for your eggs, and even worm farming! But let’s get to the plans, as that’s the most important aspect…

The plans in Chicken Kit are simply stunning. Beautiful 3D drawings of each coop, combined with 2 dimensional plans, make it a breeze for even the most diy-challenged person to knock together a great looking coop.

As you would expect with over 100 plans, there is a coop for any combination of the number of chickens you have, and the location you’re in. In fact, we wonder if there aren’t too many plans – sometimes it’s easier to keep things simple.

Verdict: A huge collection of plans means you’ll find the perfect coop for you and your chickens. The only question is do you need that many plans? If not, there are slightly cheaper options available. If you want to be spoilt for choice though, this is the kit for you.

The first thing that strikes you when you arrive at this website, is the site itself. It’s not that it’s bad as such, but it could certainly do with a bit of a polish. That said, we here to review the product, not the site selling it.

Build a Chicken Coop In 3 Days offers a comprehensive 50 different plans, with coops varying in size to cater from 1 to 25 chickens. The plans themselves are clearly laid out and easy enough to follow. The instructions take you step by step through the build, starting right from sourcing the materials.

The unique thing about this guide though, is the members area. Here, new coop plans are added every month. At first glance that might seem like a nice idea, but are you really going to want to build a new coop every time there’s a new plan available? We think this is a bit of a gimmick.

However, leaving aside the questionable value of the monthly plans, the membership area does have an active community. So if you want to chat with other chicken lovers, this could be the place. Ultimately though, we think the membership aspect is not worth the extra money that the author wants you to pay for access.

Verdict: A good set of comprehensive easy to follow plans, and a members area (at an extra cost) if you want commuity support while building your coop. But do you need 50 different plans?

Incredible Chickens is a different proposition to the other products reviewed here. Instead of being a set of coop plans, with bonuses offering advice on chicken care, Incredible Chickens is actually a very good general chicken care ebook that happens to invlude 18 coop plans as a bonus.

The plans themselves are good, but not quite up to the quality of some of the other plans reviewed here. That said, the overal package is excellent and offers great value for the first time chicken owner. The book covers all aspects of keeping birds, including a large section on breeding.

This is one of the cheapest books here, but that’s no reflection on the quality of the writing, or the information that’s presented.

Verdict: If you’re new to keeping chickens, this ebook contains excellent advice. However, the plans are not the best of all the products reviewed. If you’re comfortable with DIY then they’re fine, but if you’ve never picked up a hammer or screwdriver in your life, then go for one of the dedicated plans.

If you’re the creative type, but don’t know where to get started in building a coop, then Chicken Coop Living is the guide for you.Unlike the other products reviewed here, all of which include complete step by step plans, ‘Living takes a different approach. The author teaches you how to build pretty much any coop you can imagine.

Included are coop drawing tools, and a guide on how to design your coop from scratch. There are some ideas to give you inspiration for your grand design, and lots of advice on choosing materials, planning for the space available, and so on.

There are a few complete plans thrown in as well, but that’s not really what this guide is about. Having said that, the plans included here are the only ones to show step by step photos of a coop build.

Verdict: If you want a unique coop built to your own design, but need a little guidance to help you get there, then this is the book for you. If on the other hand, you just want a step by step “nail A to B” type guide, then there are better books reveiwed above.
